Unilock Patio, Boulder Wall, and Backyard Regrade - Phase 1 Complete

Some backyards just need a full reset. The grade was off, there was no real outdoor living space to speak of, and the yard wasn't set up to handle what the homeowner actually wanted out of it. That's where we started.

Phase 1 was all about laying the right foundation. We installed a Unilock paver patio with a clean herringbone-style field and a contrasting border - the kind of detail that makes the whole surface look intentional and finished. The curved edge keeps it from feeling boxy, and the dark soldier course border ties everything together. Fresh garden beds and a natural boulder wall along the back of the house give the space definition and structure that wasn't there before.

We also regraded the yard. This part doesn't always get the attention it deserves, but it matters more than almost anything else. A properly graded yard moves water away from the foundation, reduces low spots that stay muddy, and creates a level surface that actually works for what comes next. Getting the grade right in Phase 1 means Phase 2 - the planting - goes in clean and performs the way it should.

The fresh mulch in the garden beds and along the patio edges is doing a lot of work right now too. It keeps moisture in, weeds down, and gives the beds a neat, finished look while the plants fill in this fall. That combination of hardscape and softscape planning is what separates a yard that looks good for a season from one that holds up and keeps improving.

This is a multi-phase build, and Phase 1 is exactly what it needed to be - structural, clean, and ready for what's next. We're looking forward to showing you Phase 2 when the plantings go in this fall.
