Backyard Boulder Wall and Gravel Landscaping Done Right

A lot of backyards have that one spot that just never gets figured out. The area under the deck, the slope along the house - it sits there looking rough, drains poorly, and collects weeds season after season. That's exactly the kind of problem we enjoy solving.

Here's what we were working with - a side yard and under-deck area that had seen better days. Old gravel that had settled unevenly, a slope that needed structure, and no real definition between the lawn and the foundation. The space had potential. It just needed the right plan and the right materials to get there.

We brought in natural boulders to build out a stacked wall along the slope, which does two things at once. It holds the grade and keeps soil in place, and it gives the yard a grounded, finished look that blends with the natural surroundings. Pair that with a clean gravel bed running along the house and under the deck, and you've got a low-maintenance setup that holds up season after season without the mud, erosion, or constant upkeep.
